Aerotest Limited have designed, developed and supplied range of compact, mobile, user friendly and cost effective fuel nozzle spray pattern test facilities, designed to verify Alison T56-A14/A15 fuel nozzles by flushing, segmentation and proof pressure testing to OEM recommended test schedules.

The fuel nozzle spray pattern test facility can be designed to test alternative fuel nozzles.

Each facility is Pre commissioned prior to delivery on a “TURNKEY” basis, for the verification of fuel nozzles.

A Turnkey Pre-commissioned Fuel Nozzle Spray Pattern Test Facility includes the following:

  • The test facility consists of a fully mobile brushed stainless steel cabinet integral sink, spray/ viewing chamber and flow check
    fixture with an ergonomically angled control panel containing all necessary instrumentation and controls to operate the facility.
  • A fluid temperature control unit is connected to the test facility cabinet to maintain the temperature of the fluid within the tank
    to required limits.
  • All equipment used in the facility is fully compatible with MIL-PRF-7024E type II operating fluid (commonly known as calibrating fluid).
  • The fuel nozzle under test can be viewed through a clear perspex spray chamber. The spray chamber consists of an access door and specific test tooling which is located on top of the main spray test chamber support plate.

The spray pattern test chamber provides for the following capability:

  • Flushing of fuel nozzle.
  • Verification of fuel nozzle spray angle.
  • Spray angle measurement at 3” radius from tip.
  • Spray pattern symmetry for a full 360-degree spray pattern from the fuel nozzle as the target plate has concentric circular groves showing whether the spray pattern is symmetrical and determines if the fuel nozzle is streaking.
  • The fuel nozzle spray angle can be determined by the markings on a central located protractor which is mounted onto the target plate, the protector measures spray angles between 60º to 120° with a ±3° angle tolerance.
  • Additional tooling is also included to carry out both the fuel nozzle proof pressure test and the segmentation patternator test.

Each facility is Pre commissioned prior to delivery on a “TURNKEY” basis, for the repair and overhaul of aerospace related accessory components. Our multi component test facilities are designed for a wide range of flows, pressures and drive speeds. An optional high speed real time data acquisition system for production versatility and improved quality of test recording is available depending upon the facility design and customer requirements. A Turnkey Multi-purpose Universal, Pre-commissioned Fuel Accessory Test Facility includes the following:

  • Ergonomically designed brushed stainless steel panels for durability, eliminating FOD risks associated with painted surfaces.
  • Self-sealing, stainless steel panel couplings for fast adaptability and cleanliness.
  • A multi-adaptable component drive head, with variable speeds up to 15,000 RPM, thus providing true long term flexibility.
  • Digital controls for the DC Thyristor drive speed, for enhanced productivity and test quality.
  • Aerotest’s optional, well proven high speed data acquisition systems and PC-Based component test software.
  • Integral mains power distribution panel, with low voltage 24 Volt D.C contactor control for personnel safety.
  • Cabinet lighting both front and rear for test component adjustment and plant maintenance.
  • Optional integral slave oil system for FCU Spline lubrication configurations.
  • End to end calibrations, over 20 points prior to commissioning and cross correlation, using our NAMAS traceable instrument calibration equipment.
  • The pre-proven test systems are available with and without fuel burner patternisation cabinets, preformed base frames and altitude temperature simulation.
  • Electricity, fuel/ calibrating fluid and cooling water connections are all that is required by the customer, following installation, to achieve instant production capability.

Hydraulic Accessory Test Facilities

Each facility is Pre commissioned prior to delivery on a “TURNKEY” basis, for the repair and overhaul of aerospace related accessory components. Our hydraulic test facilities are designed for a wide range of flows, pressures and drive speeds. An optional high speed real time data acquisition system for production versatility and improved quality of test recording is available depending upon the facility design and customer requirements. A Turnkey Multi-purpose Universal, Pre-commissioned Hydraulic Test Facility includes the following:

  • Ergonomically designed brushed stainless steel panels for durability, eliminating FOD risks associated with painted surfaces.
  • Self-sealing, stainless steel panel couplings for fast adaptability and cleanliness.
  • A multi-adaptable component drive head, with variable speeds up to 15,000 RPM, thus providing true long term flexibility.
  • Digital controls for the DC Thyristor drive speed, for enhanced productivity and test quality.
  • A Hydraulic Pressure Power Unit.
  • A Chiller Unit.
  • Aerotest’s optional, well proven high speed data acquisition systems and PC-Based component test software.

  • Cabinet lighting both front and rear for test component adjustment and plant maintenance.
  • The operational capabilities are nominally designed to provide hydraulic oil at pressures and flows up to 5000psig, 40 Lt/min flows, with temperature control between 10 to 45° C at an ambient temperature of 50° C.
  • A high pressure, 10000psig, low flow 0.4Lt/ min facility capability.
  • A static test capability of up to 10000 psig.
  • End to end calibrations, over 20 points prior to commissioning and cross correlation, using our NAMAS traceable instrument calibration equipment.
  • A safe and efficient test environment.
